My scientific interests are connected with diatoms, their ecology, distribution, and usage in order to determine the environmental status of the water ecosystem. In my research, I focus on diatom species characteristics of the coastal environments, especially lakes under the pressure of storm surges and tsunamis.

Current study topics

  • Usage of diatoms as bioindicators in paleoecological research, the reconstruction of the environmental status of the aquatic ecosystem
  • Species composition changes of microalgae in case of global warming, storm surges, tsunamis, and extreme weather conditions
  • Primary succession of diatoms in water bodies with the different trophic condition
